Elmer Doman
Elmer Doman, 85, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Washington on December 17, 1936, a son of the late Elmer N. and Laura Stahl Doman.
He was a 1956 graduate of Claysville High School. Elmer enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1954 and served for over 40 years before retiring in 1996.
He worked at Pfizer Specialty Metals and retired in 1988, and then from Ametek in 2004.
He was Presbyterian.
Mr. Doman loved to hunt and attend auctions. He was a collector of many things, especially hats. He also enjoyed fishing and wood work.
He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. and The American Legion.
On April 8, 1959 he married Gail D. Hewitt Doman, and they shared over 62 years of marriage.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Ellen (Bob) Behun, Suzy Doman (Rob Young), Elmer “Nate” (Cheryl) Doman; four grandchildren, Nick Behun, Ira (Leslie) Baldwin, Jeremy (Danielle) Baldwin, Danielle (Michael) Rush; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Rush, Dalton Baldwin, Delaynie Baldwin, Grady Rush; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are a daughter, Brenda Lee; a brother, Harry “Jim” Doman; and a sister, Pat Doman.
Family and friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, and 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, January 5, with interment to follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
