Lily Coligida Saieva Popich
Lily Coligida Saieva Popich, 91, of Muse, died Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
She was born October 13, 1930, in Muse, daughter of the late Baldasare and Anna Russo Saivea.
She was a member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, Holy Rosary Church, a Christian Mother, involved in the Ladies Auxiliary for Muse #2 Fire Department, the Eagles and Muse Italian Club. Lily was also proudly named 1989 Mother of the Year by Muse Fire Department.
Lily enjoyed cooking and sharing the food she prepared. Her children, up until they were teenagers, thought their name was “taste this”.
Surviving are son, Joe “Jody” Popich of Muse; grandchildren, Andrew James Popich, III., of Monongahela, and Jade Chome, of Hickory; great-grandchildren, Adriana and Andrew James Popich, IV., of Monongahela; daughter-in-law, Nancy L. Popich, of Monongahela; son-in-law, Chris Chome, of Hickory; sisters, Rose Guerri and Mary Kurnik, both of York. Lily also leaves behind Tatano cousins, nieces, nephews and six god children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew James Popich, Sr., two sons, Andrew James Popich, II., and Anthony James Popich; and daughter, Charlotte Chome; brothers, Alphonso and James Saivea; and sisters, Concetta “Jean” Prandinni, Libodia Lombardo and Carmella Schwimer.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, at the Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, Cecil, where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, followed by Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Oscar Romero Parish, Holy Rosary Church, Muse, at 10 a.m., with Father George DeVille officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
