Jerry W. Rex, 58, of Carmichaels, formerly of Crucible, died Friday, January 7, 2022, in his home.

Mr. Rex was born in Waynesburg, on July 24, 1963, to Thelma Rex McCartney. His stepfather, John McCartney, of Jefferson, helped raise him along with his late grandmother, Nancy Rex.

On September 7, 1991, Jerry married Donna F. Courtwright, who survives. Also surviving are one son, William Smith (Amanda), of McDonald; and one daughter, Tiffany Smith, of Carmichaels; two brothers, John McCartney (Gina), of Mather, and Kirk McCartney (Vicki), of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Ian Bogumit, Kolton Smith, and Kelsey Hutchison.

Jerry liked playing with his grandchildren, riding four wheelers, and helping at various fire departments in the area.

He was a member of the Cross Point Assembly of God in Carmichaels, and had been affiliated with the Jefferson Baptist Church when he was a young man.

Mr. Rex requested cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Cross Point Church. The date and time will be announced.
