Donnas R. Black
Donnas R. Black, 85, of Washington, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 9, 2022, in his home. He was born September 16, 1936, in Greensboro, a son of the late Fred and Anna Mae Jenkins Black.
Don attended West Virginia University for two years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served from 1958-1962.
He worked as an insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance for many years, and in later years he worked for Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services.
Don was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church, where he was actively involved as a deacon, trustee and board member, Sunday school teacher and parking lot attendant. Don was a Royal Ranger leader and also enjoyed bowling, darts, golf, tennis and softball.
Don cherished the time spent with his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for always helping those in need, loving everyone and being a true friend.
On August 1, 1958, he married Viola Wamsley, who survives. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Donna (Bill) Black-Raspet of Bridgeport, W.Va.; grandchildren, Nicole (Kenynon) Warner, Bethani (Carmine) Diulus, Karah (Daniel) Cooper, Don (Kedra) Morris, Robert Morris; great-grandchildren, Sofia and Anthony Diulus, Jenna Warner and Emerson Morris; and son-in-law, Donald Morris of Titusville.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his daughter, Bridget Ann Morris; and brother, Fred Black Jr.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, Erin E Jones LFD, 304 W. Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 13.
Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil, with full military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Honor Guard of Canonsburg and the United States Marines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Don’s family for charitable purposes.
