Dr. Tom Green, D.M.D., 67, of Washington, died Friday, January 14, 2022, from an inoperable brain tumor.

He was born September 4, 1954, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Lewis L. and Marjorie Meyer Green. His family moved from Philadelphia to Washington in 1957.

Dr. Tom Green attended Trinity High School and Kiski School. He earned his B.A. from Washington and Jefferson College and his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. The training at Tufts included rotations in the Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston Children’s Floating Hospital, Boston City Hospital and Chelsea Old Soldier’s Home.

After an externship at the U.S. Coast Guard Station at Governor’s Island, N.Y., and a residency at West Virginia University, Dr. Green taught in the WVU Dental School. While teaching, Dr. Green became active in sports dentistry and provided dental work for teams at West Virginia University, the University of Pittsburgh, Michigan University, University of Texas, U.C.L.A., as well as for professional athletes. Dr. Green taught an extensive Sports Dentistry Program at the Pitt University Dental School in 1994.

Dr. Green had his own successful dental office in Washington, and was a member of the staff of Washington Health System Hospital. Dr. Green welcomed children to his practice, and at various times ran Children’s Dental Health Month both nationally and locally.

Dr. Green was a Board Certified dentist and an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy For Sports Dentistry, American Cancer Society, United Way, and the local chapter of the Western Pennsylvania Dental Society.

Surviving is a brother, Jeff, of Virginia.
