Lewis Paul Angotti
Lewis Paul Angotti, of Carrollton, Ky., passed away, peacefully, Friday, January 14, 2022, at the age of 86, with his family at his side. He was born June 9, 1935, in Ellsworth, to the late Lewis P. and Verna Vance Angotti.
Lew graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a trumpet player in the university band. He received a MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
He held positions in engineering and product development at North American Rockwell, General Electric and Elkay Manufacturing, and other companies.
While he spent his adult life in Cincinnati, Ohio, Erie, Riverside, Ill., and Carrollton, the Pittsburgh area remained close to his heart. He was a loyal fan of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Lew liked taking road trips and experiencing different areas of the country. National Parks, historic sites and Michigan’s shore of Lake Michigan were favorite stops. He also enjoyed trips to see his children and grandchildren. He was interested in cars from a young age and this continued throughout life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Angotti; and son-in-law, James Thurber.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Villwock Bell Angotti; three children from his first marriage, Lewis Angotti of Vienna, Va., Elizabeth Angotti Thurber and Donna Angotti of Fredericksburg, Va.; and two stepdaughters, Katherine (John) Wilson of State College, and Elizabeth Bell (Harry Rice) of Minnetonka, Minn.; two grandchildren, Virginia (Michael) Covelsky of Ruther Glen, Va., and Jonathan Rice of Minnetonka. He also is survived by his sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, several cousins and extended family.
A memorial service in the Pittsburgh area will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the St. Timothy Catholic Church, 10272 US Highway 42, Union, KY, 41091, or the Carroll County Animal Shelter, 440 Main Street, 2nd Floor Courthouse, Carrollton, KY 41008, in care of the funeral home.
