Robert McCarrell Allison
Robert McCarrell “Bo” Allison, 69, a resident of Carrara, Italy, died Monday, January 17, 2022. He was born June 11, 1952, in Washington, a son of William T. Allison and Mary McCarrell Allison.
He attended the former East Washington grade school and in 1969 graduated from the Gow School, New South Wales, New York. His undergraduate education included attendance at Marietta College, art and photography classes at W&J College, and classes at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Mass.
Bo spent most of his adult life as an artist, primarily in the mediums of photography and sculpture. After working in Gloucester, Mass., and New York City, he then resided mostly in Europe. Bo’s commissions to produce sculptures include the Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium and the Waldron Church in Germany, among others. Over the years, his work has been featured in exhibitions throughout Europe.
Bo is survived by his former wife, Bridgett du’Ruijter of Ghent, Belgium.
He is also survived by a brother, William T. Allison Jr.; a sister, Jane (Jim) Rainey; a nephew, Tucker Rainey; and a niece, Rebecca (Martin) Schiek.
Burial in Washington Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
