Reynaldo E. “Raynie” “Ray” Sabatini, 93, of Bentleyville passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

He was born October 23, 1928 in Washington, a son of the late Domenic and Palmarose DeCroce Sabatini.

Mr. Sabatini was a 1948 graduate of Ellsworth High School and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. For his service he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars and the United Nations Service Medal.

He worked as an electrician for U.S. Steel, Lee Norse, and Flexis Chemical for over 35 years. Following his retirement, he worked at the Greenlee Funeral Home in Bentleyville, where he was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Mr. Sabatini was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved all Pittsburgh sports. He also loved hunting, fishing, but most of all spending time and telling stories with his buddies at Camp Jo Jo in Benezette.

He was proud of his Italian heritage which was most prominently displayed when he and his brother Frank would cook at family functions and local picnics. He always had a friendly smile and kind words for everyone. If you were a stranger, you would not be for very long. He also continued to maintain an active lifestyle, walking to Richardson Park almost daily.

He was a member of the Bentleyville American Legion Post #165 of Bentleyville and the St. George CFU Lodge #354 of Cokeburg.

Surviving are two sons, Leonard Sabatini (Linda) of Columbus, Ohio, Scott Sabatini (Dorothy) of Charlotte, N.C., two grandchildren, Tristen Sabatini and Alyssa Shrader and one great-grandchild, Callum Shrader; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents is one brother, Frank Sabatini; and two sisters, Jessie Perri and Frances Dipyatic.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 9, 2022 with Rev. Edward L. Yuhas officiating. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery.

Full Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Bentleyville American Legion Post #165.
