It is with great sadness that the children of Joseph Edward Knizner announce his death Monday, July 4, 2022. He passed peacefully at the age of 86, surrounded by friends and family.

Joe was born July 2, 1936, in Marianna, to the late John A. Knizner and Mary Kubichar Knizner.

On May 9, 1964, Joe married Rosalyn Lynn DeLuca-Knizner, who sadly passed away August 23, 2021.

Joe is survived by his four children, Lyn Sloan (Rob) of Marianna, Joseph Knizner (Rebecca) of Charlotte, N.C., Edward Knizner (Sheila) of Monongahela, and Karyn Cecil (Stephen) of Marianna; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Knizner (Vickie) of Fredericktown; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and John; and his sisters, Marion Harris, Joan Decaranglo and Catherine Hickman.

Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957 during the Korean War. He then worked as an ironworker and carpenter before his career at Beth Energy, Marianna Mine #58.

Joe enjoyed gardening, baking, and helping family and friends.

He was a member of Steele-Lillie American Post 744 of Marianna and Saint Katharine Drexel Parish (formerly Saints Mary and Ann Parish).

Friends are welcome from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 8, in the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255.

A blessing service will be held at 5 p.m., with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas officiating.

At a later date, a private burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
