Solina Garcia Barbour
Solina Garcia Barbour, 94, of Washington, died peacefully Monday, July 4, 2022, with her daughter at her side, in Strabane Woods of Washington.
Born August 8, 1927, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Soledad and Angel Garcia of Donora, and the loving wife of the late William Barbour Sr.
Solina graduated from Donora High School in 1946. She knew her husband, Bill in high school, but it was at a high school reunion, after Bill had served two years in the Navy, where they reconnected and soon decided to marry in 1950.
Family was everything to her and she was everything a wife and mother could be to them. She worked at numerous jobs during her career including Kaufmanns Department Store in Mt. Lebanon, and Beverly Healthcare-South Hills in Canonsburg.
She was an avid bridge player and through that met Bob Bokan, who was a great friend, helper, and source of companionship and comfort to her for many years. She was also a member of Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg.
Solina is survived by her son, William Barbour Jr. and his wife, Marianne of Loudon, Tenn.; her daughter, Bonnie Widenor and her husband, Robert of Washington; grandchildren, Robert Widenor III of Washington, and Ross Widenor and his husband, Anthony Coffman of Munroe Falls, Ohio; along with great-granddaughter, Serenity Widenor; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her generation of late siblings, Flo Garcia, Angel Garcia and Isabel Curran, all originally of Donora.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, in Beinhauer Bogan Funeral & Cremation Services, 164 W. Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317. Funeral, Christian burial, and reception will be begin at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, in Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317 on July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Everyone please meet at church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made, in Solina’s name, to the Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church.
