Robert F. Whitmer
Robert F. Whitmer, 87, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 6, 2022.
He was born February 23, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Owen and Vera Welling Whitmer.
Bob was an active member of Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church, where he served as both a deacon and elder. He spent his entire working career as an operating engineer and was a 68-year member of Operating Engineers Local 66.
He lived a full and active life and enjoyed boating, water skiing, horseback riding and spending time at Deep Creek Lake.
Bob was a people person and a friend to everybody.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 69 years, Janet Whitmer; two daughters, Kim (Gary) Sweat and Tammy (Mike) Hodak; six grandchildren, Morgen (Andy) Wade, Elizabeth Sweat, Andy (Mackenzie) Hodak, Andrew (Pam) Sweat, Katelyn (Jason) Boley and Emily Sweat; six great-grandchildren, Lauren Wade, Isla and Harper Hodak, Leyton and Noah Sweat, and Jane Boley; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his brothers, Edward, William, Larry and Owen.
Friends and family are welcome from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 8, in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211), where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9. Interment in Brush Run Cemetery.
