Mary C. Theakston Lynn
Mary C. Theakston Lynn, 86, of Scenery Hill passed away peacefully Friday, July 8, 2022 in St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by family.
She was born at home in North Bethlehem Township on November 30, 1935, a daughter of the late Norman Theakston and Mildred Fulton.
She attended Myers School through 8th grade and then Ellsworth High School, from where she graduated in 1955.
Mary was a wonderful homemaker. She loved being a mom and grandma. Her greatest joy was taking care of her granddaughters. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband and many friends.
She was a member of the Centerville American Legion, as well as a longtime member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.
In 1956, she married the love of her life, Kemp Lynn Jr., with whom she shared 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Yvonne Lynn Plute (Martin); son-in-law, Mark VanKirk; two sisters, Rose McCoy and Judy Coyle; three granddaughters, Carli Stay (Chris), Kelsey Sevcik (Erik) and Miranda VanKirk; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Jan Lynn VanKirk; brother, Raymond Theakston; three sisters, Lillian Orum, Joanne Adametz and Betty Engle; in addition to her parents.
Family and friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., with Pastor Sandy Conti officiating. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery.
A social gathering at Nemacolin Country Club will follow.
