Wayne R. Litten
Wayne R. “Dewey” Litten, 72, of Mather, died Monday, July 11, 2022, in Washington Hospital, Washington.
He was born March 9, 1950, in Waynesburg, a son of the late H. Dewey and Martha Harbaugh Litten.
He was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.
Dewey served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973, aboard the USS Francis Marion and attended the USS Francis Marion Reunion group functions.
Dewey worked as a coal miner from 1974 to 1990 at Gateway Coal Company, then at Zappi Oil and Golden Eagle Construction Co. He retired in 2018.
He was an honorary member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company and a deputy constable for Greene County. He formerly attended the First Christian Church in Carmichaels.
Dewey enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially hunting when his health permitted. He never met a stranger and will be remembered for his quick wittedness and humor. He enjoyed watching the History channel, listening to oldies music and NHRA drag racing.
On June 26, 1971, he married Relda Piper Litten, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jodi (Kes) Litten Townsend of Chesapeake, Va., and Jaime Litten Gaddis of Mather; six grandchildren, Dylan Crockard, Austin Crockard, Piper Townsend, Providence Townsend, Ireland Gaddis and Nathen Gaddis.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a grandson, Tre Townsend.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 14, in the Behm Funeral Homes, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, with the Rev. Dr. William Parker officiating, with Military Honors accorded by the U.S. Navy and the Greene County Honor Guard. The Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company will conduct a memorial service Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
