Rita Jean Pecuch
Rita Jean Pecuch, 88, of California, died Friday, July 15, 2022.
She was born August 31, 1933, in Donora, a daughter of the late Joe and Thelma Easton Huber.
She grew up in Donora with her two sisters, Joanne and Karen, and many cherished grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. As a child, Jean loved dancing, riding horses and twirling her baton as a high school band majorette.
Jean graduated with a teaching degree from California State Teachers College, where she met her husband, Ray Pecuch.
She was a proud and active member of the California United Methodist Church.
Jean had a major impact on the lives of countless children when she served as an elementary school teacher for the California Area School District, as a Girl Scout troop leader and as a vacation Bible school arts and crafts teacher.
She loved planning and hosting holiday gatherings, birthday parties, pool parties, family vacations and especially loved the annual Easton/Huber family reunion. She cherished the many friendships in her life, and especially loved sharing family outings and a cup of tea at the kitchen table with her friend, Delaine. Jean also loved and cared for many pets over the years, including the family poodle, Muppet and her granddog, Lucky.
She loved being a mother and grandmother and cherished her time babysitting her two granddaughters, and attending their dance recitals, school events, watching them ski, and taking them to Disney World.
In addition to her parents, Joe and Thelma Easton Huber, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond M. Pecuch, who passed away in April 2022.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Cindy Pecuch, Susan Pecuch, and Raymond Pecuch Jr., his wife, Melissa “Missi” and their daughters, Morgan and Megan Pecuch.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California. There will be a service immediately following at 12:15 in the California United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dawn Hargraves officiating.
Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
