Betty Jo Pierce Brown

Betty Jo Pierce Brown, 57, of Tarrs, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2022, in her home, with her loving mother and husband by her side following her courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 21, 1965, in Burgettstown, a daughter of John R. and Gloria J. Pierce of Burgettstown.

Betty was a 1984 graduate of Burgettstown Junior/Senior High School.

Betty’s recent employment was as a dietary technician at McMurray Hills Manor.

She married Stephen Brown September 20, 2008, in Petoskey, Mich.

Betty was very artistic in many ways and enjoyed crafting of all kinds, especially wreath-making. She enjoyed playing card games and bingo with family and friends. She loved to be in nature, as she enjoyed camping, watching the hummingbirds and admiring her beautiful flowers in her garden, and watching the goldfish in her pond in the backyard. She was a collector of crystal knickknacks and porcelain dolls.

Betty was a caring and generous woman. She loved most of all to spend time with her loved ones and close friends who she held very dear to her heart.

Betty was an honored member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post # 446 of Mount Pleasant.

Betty is survived by her husband, Stephen Brown of Tarrs; son, Morgan Brown of Connellsville; her faithful furry companion, Moose; her parents, John R. and Gloria J. Pierce of Burgettstown; brothers, Frank Pierce of Burgettstown, Robert Pierce and wife Kimmie of Ridgway, and Michael Pierce and fiancee Ashly Roman of Burgettstown; her sisters, Laurie Mathews of Kiowa, Colo., and Gertie Russell and husband Jack of Frankfort Springs; her mother-in-law, Marcia G. Brown of Ionia, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Denise Morrow and fiance Brad Curtis of Ionia, Mich., and Karen Kavanagh and husband Dick of Hubbardston, Mich.; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her brother, Johnny R. Pierce; brother-in-law, Donnie Mathews; paternal grandparents, William and Emma Pierce; maternal grandparents, Albert and Gertrude Ervin; and father-in-law, Wayne E. Brown.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23, in the American Legion of Burgettstown, 1526 S. Main Street, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
