Charles “Rich” Hallam, 78, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17, 1943, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John Earl and Matilda Lacey Hallam.

Rich graduated from Fort Cherry High School, where he was a proud member of the 1961 Fort Cherry State Champion basketball team. Rich and team members were inducted into the Washington-Greene Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.

He attended California University of Pennsylvania and was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War.

Rich retired as a Pennsylvania State Trooper with the rank of Corporal having served 25 years.

He was an amateur home remodeler and could fix anything. Rich was known for his quick wit and was always good for a laugh. Most of all he loved playing golf at Champion Lakes Golf Course with his friends.

In addition to his parents, Rich was predeceased by seven siblings, Matilda Mackey, Edward Hallam, Lillian Smith, Gladys Flint, Edith Mariani, Iris Medvid and John Hallam.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Georgine Ciampa Hallam; daughters, Julie Hallam, and Kelly Knasko and husband Andrew; his cherished grandson, Charlie; a brother, Daniel Hallam and wife Marilee; his father-in-law, George Ciampa; brother-in-law, Joseph Ciampa and wife Loretta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rich’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Excela Health ICU nurses and staff for all of the kind and compassionate care that Rich received.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd Street, Jeannette. A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel, with Deacon Robert Stauffer presiding. Military honors will follow accorded by the Jeannette Combined Veterans. A private inurnment will take place in the St. Clair Cemetery Mausoleum, Hempfield Township.
