David M. Gayman
David M. “Dave” Gayman, 74, of Beallsville, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2022, in Donnell House, after a brief illness from a rare disease.
He was born May 10, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late L. George and Tillie Rifgon Gayman.
David was a 1966 graduate of Beth Center High School and a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Gayman had various jobs, the first of which was as a quality analyst of coal at Mathies Mine until the mines in the area closed. He then worked at Western Center caring for the disabled and finally as a machine tech and purchasing agent for DCI.
He was a member of the United Christian Church in California.
Dave enjoyed fixing things and problem solving, but most importantly he loved making people laugh.
On February 5, 1977, he married Lois Frederick Gayman, who survives. They celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tara Knizner (Andy) of Plum Boro, and Tonya Rubin (Carl) of McCungie; four grandchildren, Stephen, Emily and Riley Knizner, and stepgranddaughter, Makenzie Rubin; two siblings, George Gayman of Washington, and Donna Gayman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Friday, July 29, in the United Christian Church, 499 W. Malden Drive, Coal Center, with Pastor Amory Merryman and Betty Riecks officiating. Interment will be in the Hill-McCarty Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the United Christian Church.
