Nadine L. Finley Teagarden
Nadine L. Finley Teagarden, affectionately known as DeeDee, 84, of Claysville, died Sunday, July 24, 2022, in the home of her daughter, Beth, surrounded by the love of her family and having been in failing health for the last year.
She was born October 7, 1937, to the late Ernest and Reita Treadway Finley. She graduated from West Alexander High School in 1955 and attended Indiana State Teachers College.
Nadine worked for Penn State in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, where she was the first president of the Pennsylvania Expanded Category Programs Paraprofessional Organization. She retired from Fairmont Supply in 2000 and was employed after her retirement at Regal Theater in Washington, where she was a manager for 10 years.
Nadine was a woman of incredible faith in Jesus. As an active member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, served as an elder, and counseled church camp at Camp Laurelview. She had been a Stephen Minister since 1997 and served on the state women’s fellowship board as ministry leader.
Nadine had an endless capacity for love, and showed the unconditional love and acceptance she found in Jesus Christ to all lucky enough to know her.
Nadine was an avid reader and had a spunky sense of humor. She recognized the simple joys in life, and nothing brought her more joy than her family.
Surviving are three daughters, Reita Diane Melvin (Donald) and Beth Teagarden (Jay Plants) of Claysville, Lori Teagarden of Illinois; and one son, J. Michael Teagarden (Peggy); five grandchildren, Melissa Melvin Ullom (Jeremy), Daniel Melvin, Bethany Melvin, Jay Teagarden (Janine) and Joe Teagarden (Marla); and three great-grandchildren, Grace Melvin, Jason and Jonah Teagarden; one great-great-grandson, Ethan Plants; three stepgrandchildren, Jay Christopher Plants (Lori), Brian Plants (Wendy Younger), Angela Moore (Benjamin); and many stepgreat-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, and others who loved her.
She was the last of her immediate family.
She was previously married to Jerry Teagarden, who died in 2010.

Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with a celebration of her life to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, in Fairhill Manor Christian Church, 351 Montgomery Avenue, Washington, with the Rev.
