Doris M. Sedlak
Doris M. Sedlak, 82, of Houston, passed away, peacefully, Sunday, June 26, 2022, in her home.
She was born August 14, 1939, in Washington, a daughter of the late Albert and Carmella Bruno Nagy.
Mrs. Sedlak was a 1957 graduate of Canonsburg High School.
Doris worked for her family’s Safeway Cleaners and then Mountford Drugstore in Houston, Health America in Upper St. Clair and retired following 12 years with the medical practice of Doctors Gretz and Coyle in McMurray.
She was a member of St. Oscar Romero Parish attending the St. Patrick worship site, where she was the religious education teacher for over 30 years. Doris was also the head of the after-school care program for St. Patrick School.
Mrs. Sedlak recited her rosary every day, enjoyed using her computer for games and listening to music, loved legal TV shows, playing cards and collecting cookbooks. In her youth she was an avid dancer.
On April 28, 1962, she married Frank J. Sedlak, her husband of 60 years.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two children, Frank J. Sedlak Jr. and wife Michelle of Pittsburgh, and Stacey L. Sedlak-Dzikowski and husband David of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Sedlak; two brothers, Albert Nagy (Patricia) of Hickory, and Eugene Nagy (Joyce) of Mt. Gretna; a sister, Patricia Morack (Albert Jr.) of Canonsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Helen Weller and husband Robert, are deceased.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, in the St. Patrick Worship Site of the St. Oscar Romero Parish, with the Rev. Thomas Gillespie as celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Catholic Charity of one’s choice.
