Betty Lou Haught Morris
Betty Lou Haught Morris, 87, of Washington, died Thursday, March 3, 2022, in the Donnell House of Concordia Hospice, surrounded by her family.
She was born September 21, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of the late Thomas Ray and Josephine Johanna McCready Haught.
Betty was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School.
She went to work for Washington Hospital’s extended care facility in 1973. She later moved to Washington Hospital where she worked as a nursing assistant until her retirement in 1997.
Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She also loved her cat, Annie, and her family.
She is survived by five children: Pamela (John) Jones, Charles (Joann) Morris, Scott (Lynn) Morris, Todd Morris, and Teri (Buck Cain) McMullen; 11 grandchildren: Donna (Derek) Maceiko, Samuel (Katie) Jones, Michelle Jones, Stephanie (Justin) Stoddard, Charles (Caitie) Morris, Brandon Belcher, Patrick Morris, Shannon Morris, Tonya Morris, John (Maranda Hanlin) McMullen, and Lauren (Josh) Fox; 10 great-grandchildren: Haylea, Chase, Peyton, Cameron, Harper, Emma, Cole, Quinn, Paisley, and Zane; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two sisters, Shirley Heckendorn and Ruth Weinberg; and a brother, Raymond Haught, Jr.. She is also preceded in death by her former husband, and father of her children, Elden Morris.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2022. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
