William A. McCullough III

William A. “Bill” McCullough, III., 72, of Washington, died Friday, March 11, 2022, in the Washington Hospital.

He was born August 13, 1949, in Washington, a son of the late William A. McCullough, Jr. and Betty Renner McCullough.

Mr. McCullough was a 1967 graduate of McGuffey High School.

After high school, Bill joined the U.S. Army and served the U.S. Army Security Agency. He was with the USASA Group Korea, from 1968 to 1970, and then the USASA Group Europe, from 1970 to 1972.

Bill was a printing press operator for Union Camp for some time. After that he worked as an apprentice mould maker for Penn Mould. He then went to work for Ross Mould as a journeyman mould maker; a position he held for over 20 years before his retirement.

Mr. McCullough’s greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.

On July 18, 1970, in West Middletown, he married the love of his life, Barbara, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Robert William (Stacey) McCullough, of Washington; a sister, Cheryll Post, of Taylorstown; two grandchildren, Bayleigh and Braeden McCullough; and several nieces and nephews.

All services are private and entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner / supervisor, Andrew C. Piatt, director.

A service at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be announced at a later date, where military honors will be afforded.
