Josephine Christina Saccone Ricciardi, 98, of West Mifflin, formerly of Allentown, passed peacefully Monday, March 21, 2022, in the Family Hospice in Lawrenceville, surrounded by family. She is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
She was born March 29, 1924, a daughter of the late Christopher and Carmella Saccone.
She was the beloved wife of 41 years to the late Luigi Ricciardi, who passed September 26, 1995. They were married August 7, 1954.
At age 18, during World War II, Josephine worked at The Pentagon, Arlington, Va., as a clerk-typist, followed by employment at Dravo on Neville Island.
After marrying her husband, she operated and owned a deli, beer distributor and a neighborhood bar, 481 Lounge in Monongahela.
Josephine was the loving mother of the late Angelina “Gina” (Albert) Ricciardi. Gina was her whole life; Josephine loved her dearly.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Joe, Nick and Jerry Saccone.
Josephine is survived by cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Josephine loved Jeopardy, musicals and classical music. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and daughter to Italy, Hawaii and to the Caribbean.
Service and burial are private.
In lieu of flowers, per Josephine’s request donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Washington County.
