Robert John Bentz Sr.
Robert John Bentz Sr., 91, died peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2022, in the Donnell House, following a brief illness.
He was born June 4, 1930, in Snowden, a son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Manko Bentz.
Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
A lifelong farmer, Bob enjoyed farming, and riding his John Deere tractors.
Mr. Bentz was a Ford Mustang enthusiast, who enjoyed collecting and restoring classic Mustangs with his son, and watching NASCAR racing.
Bob remained sharp as a tack, and enjoyed reading the newspaper, and discussing all the current events in detail.
What gave Bob the greatest joy was being surrounded by his beloved family. He never missed a chance to invite them for gatherings in his home, for holidays and summer picnics. Although he was a very old-school, and hard working man, there was never any doubt about his love for his family.
His wife, Betty Lou Gusic Bentz, died October 26, 2008.
Surviving are a son, Robert J. (Candice) Bentz Jr. of Prosperity; a stepdaughter, Debbie Gusic of Claysville; a sister, Lois Gazvoda of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Bobby (Kayla) Bentz, Chase Bentz, Josh (Ashleigh) Deyell, Cody (Ashley) Deyell, Janeen Pastva and Danyelle Melthratte; and eight great-grandchildren, Lilah, Maizie, Nash, Charlee, Quinn, Julia, Sydney and Olivia; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a stepdaughter, Sheila K. Miller; a brother, Al Bentz; and four sisters, Martha Kanish, Agnes Randolph, Margie Zalaznik and Betty Mirisciotta.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31.
Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
