Dorothy June Wilcox, 90, formerly of DuBois, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the Donnell House.

“June” was born on June 25, 1931, the daughter of James C. and Dorothy Minns Rearick, in DuBois, Pennsylvania.

She married Joseph C. Wilcox, Sr., on June 11, 1953, with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage. Her husband preceded her in death on July 7, 2020. She missed him terribly, as being together was a great comfort during the onset of the pandemic.

For the past 30 months, June was a resident at Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living in Washington, where she received excellent, loving care from the staff and administration.

June graduated from DuBois High School in 1949. She helped her mother raise her younger siblings while her father was serving in the Navy during World War II. She worked for her father at his appliance store immediately after high school, and then worked for Sears Roebuck and Company, until her retirement in 1991.

June was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois. She loved being with her family and recounting stories of her childhood and early years.

She absolutely relished cooking dinner for her family at holidays, and she baked bread every Saturday for her family and friends in her younger years.

June loved traveling with her sister, Mary, to antique shops throughout the area.

She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and vintage movies.

She is survived by her son, Joseph, Jr. (Billie Ann) Wilcox, Claysville; her daughter, Linda (Darwin) London, DuBois; five grandchildren, Nancy (Scott) Shell, of Washington, Amy (Ryan) Ward, of McMurray, Eric London, of DuBois, Laura (Brian) Vetere, of Upper St. Clair, and Lindsey (Nate) Bernardo, of DuBois; eight great-grandchildren, Colin and Matthew Shell, Alexis June and Caroline Ward, Nadia and Geno Vetere, and Bentley and Lincoln Bernardo; her brother, William (Cappy) Rearick; her sister, Mary (Ron) Minges; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three siblings, James Rearick during infancy, Frank (June) Rearick, Joyce Rearick; and a nephew, James Rearick.

June’s funeral was held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, with the Pastor John Miller of Christ Lutheran Church officiating.

Interment is in the Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, PA.
