John Antonacci, 90, of Dry Tavern, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Born in San Stefano, Abruzzo, Italy, John immigrated to the United States in 1947 at 15 years old. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1951 and was married on New Years Eve 1952.

John worked as a carpenter in Pittsburgh, a skill that he would use throughout his life, and then at Gross Furniture Company in Fredericktown. During the Korean Conflict, John served in the US Army, stationed in Europe. In 1969, John started his own business, Tri-County Carpet, a carpet and flooring provider. He worked his business, built the family farmstead, and raised a family.

A great personal loss came when his two daughters, Karen and Cynthia, died shortly after birth.

In his later years John enjoyed tinkering in his woodworking garage and making wine. Pears, plums, grapes, tomatoes – he made wine out of almost anything. On Sundays he could be found watching football and cursing the Steelers’ bad plays.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Moravitz; his son, Lance; and granddaughters, Micalyn and Kellyn.

John will be cremated, and his ashes spread on the family farm in a private ceremony. He is long remembered and will be long missed.

Funeral services provided by the Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home, Carmichaels.
