Raymond K. Barley
Raymond K. Barley, 79, of Allensville, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
He was born on March 15, 1943, in Huntingdon, a son of the late Donald and Hazel Kelly Barley.
He was first united in marriage to Linda Carlson Barley, who preceded him in death on May 8, 2009. He then married Dotti Zook Barley on June 25, 2011. She survives at their home.
He is also survived by his daughters, Tara Roche and husband, Edward of Johnston, R.I. and Heather Collea and husband, Robert of Mt. Holly, N.C.; as well as a stepdaughter, Nichole Erb and husband, Andy of McClure; and five grandchildren: Tyler Roche, Brynn Roche, Braden Collea, Taylor Goss and Jacob Erb; a brother, John Barley of Huntingdon; and a sister, Donna Fleming of Maryland.
Ray was a 1961 graduate of Huntingdon High School, a 1964 graduate of York Junior College and a 1966 graduate of Colorado State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He taught history at the Grier School for a number of years, was employed at 84 Lumber, where he designed new franchises for them; following his time there, he went to work for Hardy Construction, then he purchased that business and it became S&T Construction.
He served as a township supervisor for the Nottingham Township for a number of years, was on the Huntingdon County Planning Commission and was instrumental in the construction of the new Thrift & Gift building in Belleville.
Ray was a member of Rockville Fellowship Church, where he served in a leadership role for a short time. He had also sponsored a number of different ministries at the church.
Ray loved to travel and attend NASCAR races, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, going hunting and being at Raystown Lake on his pontoon boat.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Rockville Fellowship Church with Pastor Harold Sharp officiating. Burial will take place at Huntingdon Memorial Gardens at a later time.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville.
