Roberta “Betsy” Shoup Alrutz, 76, of Midway, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in Washington Hospital.
Betsy was born September 9, 1946, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Edward and Alberta Gorman Shoup.
Mrs. Alrutz was a retired beautician at Sherrie’s Beauty Shop and also worked as a front desk operator at the Record Outlook.
Betsy was a faithful member of Raccoon Presbyterian Church in Candor. Betsy loved the family that her church gave her and was so thankful for all of the friendships that she was given. Above all, Betsy was a special, kind and caring woman.
She loved tending to her garden and watching all summer and spring as her hard work of planting paid off. Betsy was a gifted seamstress, always hemming and fixing things for others. Mrs. Alrutz also enjoyed dabbling and working on her computer. Although all these things made Betsy who she was, nothing completed her like her family.
Betsy and her late husband raised two wonderful children, who filled her life with so much love and her four favorite people, her grandsons. Betsy was the ideal Grandma; she showered her grandkids with love and always cared for them no matter what. She took being their Grandma very seriously and her most cherished time was when they were all together.
Surviving are her children, John Wayne (Helen) Alrutz of Midway and Heather (Mike) Massey of Midway; grandsons, Gregory Alrutz, and Nikolas, Jakob and Kolton Massey; brothers, Don (Marie) Shoup of Cecil, and Robert (Donna) Shoup of West Virginia; and sister-in-law, Lucy Shoup of Florida.
Along with her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Alrutz (2018); and brother, John Shoup.
All arrangements are private and entrusted to Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 106 St. John Street, Midway, 724-796-3301.
