Hayes R. Harvey
Hayes R. Harvey, 80, died Sunday, November 20, 2022, in his home, following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born April 5, 1942, in Washington. He was a 1960 graduate of Bentleyville High School and he graduated in 1964 from California State College.
He taught industrial arts at McGuffey High School for 35 years.
He loved teaching. He also coached small-bore rifle at Frazier Simplex for over 20 years. In his youth, he was an Eagle Scout, and enjoyed helping new Scouts with their Eagle Scout projects. He was active with the Wounded Warriors of Western Pennsylvania, where he helped disabled people of all kinds with outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. He loved pitching horseshoes with the Washington County Horseshoe Club.
On September 6, 1977 he married Coleen Clore, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Devra (Dan) Redding of Weatherford, Texas and Tera Smith of Florida; a brother, Barry (Carol) Harvey of Washington; a grandson, Weston Bright of Weatherford, Texas; a nephew, Ryan Harvey and a niece, Joi (Doug) Alrutz.
