Doris Dishong
Doris Dishong, 98, of Brownsville (Centerville Borough), passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in The Residence at Hilltop.
She was born July 20, 1924, in Somerset, a daughter of the late Ralph and Lucille Bowbly Watkins.
Mrs. Dishong was a 1943 graduate of Ebensburg Cambria High School.
She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in California.
A homemaker, Doris enjoyed reading, Bridge Club and spending time with family and friends. She also was involved with a painting group at Center in the Woods and a women’s group at California State College.
On January 18, 1942, she married Berlie Dishong Sr., who died May 17, 2011.
Surviving is a son, Berlie Dishong Jr. (Deborah) of Nazareth; five grandchildren: Brian Dishong (Jennie) of Nazareth, Eric Dishong (Linda) of Leesburg, Ala., Kevin Dishong (Melissa) of Bath, Shanna Geistwite (Aaron) of Camp Hill and Devon Dishong of New York; four great-grandchildren, Drew Dishong, Haley Dishong, and Elia and Caleb Geistwite; two sisters, Joyce McCall (Jeff) of Summerhill and Faye Holben of Clarion; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a son, Richard W. Dishong; and a sister, Grace Howell.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, in the First Presbyterian Church in California. The family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 303 4th Street, California, PA 15419, or the Richard Dishong Scholarship Fund, c/o California University of Pennsylvania.
