Palmira Mary Scariot Mlinarcik
Palmira “Pat” Mary Scariot Mlinarcik, 99, of Avella, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, in her home, with her family by her side. She was born September 2, 1923, in Arden, to the late Guerino and Giovanna Rech Scariot.
Pat was a lifelong resident of Avella. She attended Avella schools leaving at age 16 for her first job at an ice cream parlor in Avella. She then worked at a grocery store and finally began to clean the house of a family in Steubenville, Ohio, making $15 a week. She worked for them until she met and married Andrew Mlinarcik, Jr. on August 5, 1950.
She loved to go dancing, shop for shoes and purses, but most importantly she loved being with her family.
Pat is survived by her sons, Barry Mlinarcik, with whom she resided, and Randy (Vicki) Mlinarcik of Cheswick; her grandchildren, Randy (Shannon) Mlinarcik, Jr. of Cheswick, Stephanie (Joel) Haddock of Lutherville-Timonium, Md., and Justin (Megan) Mlinarcik of New Kensington; her great-grandchildren, Nicole Mlinarcik, Michael Mlinarcik, Carl Winkler Jr., Caylen Winkler, Elissa Mlinarcik, Dominic Mlinarcik, Vincent Mlinarcik, Natalia Mlinarcik, Adelyn Mlinarcik, Zelda Haddock, Isaac Mlinarcik and Sofia Mlinarcik; and her three great-great-grandchildren, Hayleigh, Anthony and Damien; sisters, Tarsela Cecchini of Washington, and Delma Rapotec of Seven Hills, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Andy Mlinarcik; and her sister, Enes Scariot.
Pat was a member of St. Michael Church in Avella (St. Isidore the Farmer Parish), but most recently attended Church At The Rock with her son, Barry. She also enjoyed attending St. Victor Parish when visiting her son, Randy. She was a woman of great faith and prayed for her family and friends daily. She faced many trials in her life, but dealt with them all with God-given grace.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 3, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating.
Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.
