Sara Corvin Braverman, of North Augusta, S.C., formerly of Canonsburg and Washington, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in Augusta, Georgia, in the company of her loving children.

“Sally”, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Uniontown, on April 2, 1933.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas W. and Evelyn Inks Corvin; her brother, Douglas W. Corvin Jr.; sister, Anne C Gerhart; and her husband of 41 years, Leonard Braverman.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Young and Beth Parry; her son, Dan Braverman; her sons-in-law, Frank Parry and John Young; daughter-in-law, Holly Thorson; five grandchildren, Ross R. Young, Frank R. and Scott T. Parry, Joy Ellenberger and Lizzie Dillon; their spouses, Amanda Lovely, Kailea Parry, Doug Ellenberger and Matt Dillon; six great-grandchildren: Olivia C. and Nolan J. Parry, Heidi and Leah Ellenberger, Sarah and Rachel Dillon, and a seventh – Sam Dillon, on the way. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Marion Corvin. Her legacy is an extended family who care deeply for one another.

Sally, a retired psychiatric nurse, a graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing and former employee of Mayview State Hospital and Western Center School and Hospital, gave generously of her time as a volunteer for the Make A Wish Foundation, Washington County Historical Society, Camp Kon O Kwee and the Share In Love Thrift Store.

She served as docent at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the Meadowcroft Historic Village. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Canasta Card Club.

She was a skilled bowler, an avid golfer, an angler, a bargain hunter who frequented thrift stores and yard sales, and a natural-born entertainer possessing a lightning-quick wit and a razor-sharp sardonic sense of humor; skills which have rubbed off on her children and grandchildren, and have helped them cope with the obstacles and absurdities of life and come out on top.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or services.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of Sally’s favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the ASPCA or Pawmetto Lifeline Animal Shelter.
