Gerald Serrino
Gerald “Jerry” Serrino, 84, of McMurray passed peacefully surrounded by family September 30, 2022.
Beloved husband of 45 years to the late Barbara Jakoski Serrino. Best Dad in the Universe to Scott Serrino, Traci Wargo, Suzy (Mike) Kairush, Mary Jo (Shawn Jackson) Serrino, and the late Michael Serrino. Cherished Papap of Christopher (April) Wargo, Ryan Serrino and Daniel (Rebecca Ortiz) Kramer. Loving brother of Carole (Robert) Buren. Dear son of the late Anthony and Grace (Mendola) Serrino. He is also survived by his nieces, Barbara Buren and Kimberly (Jeff) Kiper. Jerry will be truly missed by his friends and family.
Jerry grew up in Donora where he graduated from Donora High School. He attended the University of Pittsburgh for both undergraduate and graduate studies and returned to teach graduate classes while serving for the Veteran’s administration for 34 years.
Jerry was known for his generosity, kindness and strong faith. He was very devoted to his faith, volunteering his time with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and as a Eucharistic minister. Jerry would visit the patients of nursing and hospice care and bring them comfort by praying the rosary and sharing communion with them. He was was a lifelong Pitt, Steelers and Penguins fan, active member of the Italian Club and legendary bocce champion. Jerry dearly loved his dog Muffy as well as grandpets Gracie and Jazzy.
Funeral arrangements by Beinhauers. Family and friends welcome 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, at 2828 Washington Rd, McMurray PA 15317, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Benedict The Abbott Church on Friday, October 7, at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
