Marjorie E. Miles

Marjorie E. Miles, 97, of Washington, died Saturday, October 1, 2022, in Transitions, Humbert Lane.

She was born in Scenery Hill, on April 20, 1925, daughter of the late Willis Charles and Eleanor R. Bryner Elliott. She11attended McGuffey, and graduated from Trinity High School in 1943.

She worked as a telephone operator for many years, working there first after graduation, then at Presbyterian Senior Care and then back to Bell Telephone, from where she retired in 1984.

Marjorie was a member of First Christian Church in Canonsburg, and more recently attended the Humbert Lane Chapel. She was a member of the Pioneer Club, and the Ten Year Club at Bell Telephone. She was also on the Residence Council at Humbert Lane. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, canning and gardening. She was a “Farm Girl”.

On August 22, 1947, she married the late Halden Miles, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2015.

She is survived by their children: Daniel G. and wife, Sharon Miles, of McClellandtown, Carla Jo and husband, Lou Rodriguez, of Burgettstown and Eleanor Sue and husband, Larry Miller, of Washington; daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Miles, of Cortland, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Matthew Miles of Okinawa, Japan, Jennifer Fleszar (Doug) of Hopwood, Dr. Andrew Rodriguez (Jessica) of McDonald, Brit Flack of Cortland Ohio, Patrick Miles of Coral Gables, Fla., Benjamin (Allessandra) Miller of Honolulu, Hawaii and Nathaniel (Ashley) Miller of Washington; 10 great-grandchildren: Hayden Miles, Ethan Mudery, Travis Mudery, Charles Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Blaine Flack, Easton Miles, Chloe Miller, Logan Miller and Clara Miller.

Deceased in addition to her husband and parents, is a son, Charles Halden Miles; siblings, Charles Elliott, Bernard Elliott, Orville Bryner and Wilma Sargeant, as well as an infant brother.

Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, with Pastor Rob Fetty officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
