Richard Pacilla
Richard “Dickie” Pacilla, of Washington, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 9, 2022.
He was a son of the late Valentine and Mildred Pacilla.
After graduating from Washington High School, Richard joined the Air Force – Armaments and Electronics Division. After his honorable discharge, he began his career as an electrical engineer at RCA, and retired from PA Transformer Technology as plant manager after 30 years of working up the ranks.
Richard enjoyed rigatoni, skiing, softball, going to movies, spending time with family, manicuring his yard, and participating in lively debates. He enjoyed traveling to New York City and Florida, but his favorite place to be was on the golf course with his buddies. He was a brilliant mathematician who loved to tutor and share knowledge. He could fix anything mechanical or electrical. He was quick with a quote, dynamic and friendly, and always had a smile and time to hear or tell a story “it’s a long story, I’ll make it short..” (it was never short).
He never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. If you had the pleasure of meeting him, you probably liked him, and if you had the pleasure of knowing him, you probably loved him.
Richard leaves behind two loving daughters, Valerie (James) Espino of Arizona and Laura (Tom) Austin of Washington; four grandchildren, Mitchell Coderre of Arizona, Jessica (Casey) Hartley of Erie, Andrew (Ida) Austin of Sweden, Stephanie Austin (Adrienne Jantzi) of Virginia; and one great-grandson, Jackson Hartley of Erie.
He was preceded in death by his beloved “siblings”, GiGi Pacilla and Judy Buckingham.
There will be a celebration of his life from 4;30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 15, in The Union Grill, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 94, Meadowlands, PA 15347.
