Walter J. Haas, 78, of Carmichaels, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 10, 2022, in his home with his loving family by his side, after a five-year battle with a lung disease.

Born December 19, 1943, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Charles W. and Mae E. McMillen Haas.

Walter moved to Greene County in 1997 from Chalfont. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1962. He received his bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1973 from Pace University, New York City, his master’s degree in Real Estate in 1985 from the Appraisal Institute MAI and his double master’s degree from the Commercial Institute CCIM.

He was a member of the Waynesburg First Assembly of God.

Walter was stationed in Germany for three years during the Vietnam Era, where he received the Sharpshooter medal.

He married Kathleen Lear in 1985 and they were happily married for 36 years.

Walter was employed with PennDot as a Real Estate Appraiser for nine years until he retired in 2015. He enjoyed drawing, painting, gardening and composting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Dianne (Charles) Collins, of Lockhaven and Judith Gale (Phillip) O’Shaughnessey, of Tamaque; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
