John Edward Havrila
John Edward “Honey” Havrila, 54, of Washington, died Thursday, October 13, 2022, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
John was born January 5, 1968, in Youngstown, Ohio, a beloved son of John P. Havrila and the late Margaret Farrell Havrila.
He was a 1986 graduate of Baldwin High School and went on to earn a business degree from Westminster College. While he was at Westminster, he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.
John worked as an estimator for SMS Group.
In his free time, John enjoyed golf, music, and just about any sport he could find to watch. He was a devoted family man and loved visiting with his immediate and extended family members as much as he could. His greatest passion in life was his girls, who affectionately referred to him as “Honey.” He spent countless hours doing whatever they wanted to do and going wherever they wanted to go.
On October 28, 2000, he married the love of his life, Erin Henry, who survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Katie and Emily Havrila of Washington; two sisters, Kathleen (Michael) Paul of McMurray and Kristine Phillips of Baldwin; five nieces, Kelly, Bethany, Julia, Sara, and McKenna; four nephews, John, Blake, Nathan, and Rylan; his great-nephew and great-niece, Warren and Sloane; his mother- and father-in-law, Donna and Paul Henry; two brothers-in-law, Paul and Adam (Carla) Henry; and several loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 and 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 16, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 17. All other services are private.
