Lora Jean Patterson DePetro
Lora Jean Patterson DePetro, 82, of Wellsburg, W.Va., passed away early Thursday morning, October 27, 2022, in Stonerise Wellsburg.
She was born April 26, 1940, in Independence, a daughter of the late William Lewis and Lora Belle Hill Patterson.
Jean was a 1958 graduate of Avella High School and was a member of New Day Christian Center of Wellsburg.
She worked as an information and security dispatcher for Bethany College for 20 years, retiring in 2008.
Jean was a true poet at heart; she enjoyed writing poetry and reading. She loved music and when she was younger, she sang in the church choir with her brothers and sisters.
On August 9, 1958, she married Robert L. DePetro Sr., who passed away April 25, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie (Dave) Brownlee of West Middletown and Lisa (Terry) Jacobs of Avella; and a son, Robert L. (Rebecca) DePetro Jr. of Avella; seven grandchildren, Dana (Jim) Gatewood, Chelsea (Chris) Foster, Terry (Samantha) Jacobs, Jocilyn (Nick) Dolan, Nicole Jacobs and Makaylee (Johnny) Kelvington; 10 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Gavin, Gracyn, Bodie, Dean, Tyler, Adalynn, Nico, Wyatt and Brody; a sister, Betty Lucas of Wellsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a sister, Linda Lou Coen; and two brothers, William George Harlin and Almon Harlin Jr.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 30, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home, Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, with Pastor Angel Adams officiating.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Avella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
