Verna Jean Koser Galbraith
Verna Jean Koser Galbraith, 94, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in Country Meadows, Bridgeville.
Verna was born June 29, 1928, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Charles W. and Lena Clyde Koser. She graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1946 and Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.
On November 10, 1949, she married George M. Galbraith Sr., who passed away December 5, 2005. Verna was a longtime member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, and following her nursing career she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Pastoral Care at Canonsburg Hospital. She was also a member of The Order of Eastern Star.
Verna is survived by her two sons, George M. Galbraith Jr. and his wife Kathy, of Mt. Lebanon and D. Scott Galbraith and his wife Carol, of Canonsburg; a daughter, Susan Galbraith, of Melbourne, Fla.; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Depelteau (Jonathan), Rebecca Galbraith, Andrew Galbraith (Melissa), Amy Galbraith (Tori) and Maggie Layton; five great-grandchildren: Jackson, Alexa and Cameron Galbraith, and Kylie and Cody Depelteau.
Verna is preceded in death by her husband, George; and grandson, Eric Scott Galbraith.
Family and friends will be received from 3 until 7 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Interment will be in Woodruff Memorial Park, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Canonsburg U.P. Church or Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Country Meadows for their care of Verna for the past 12 years and the staff of Suncrest Hospice for the care they provided for the last three months.
