Dorothy Wainer
Dorothy “Dot” Wainer, 89, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 1, 2022, in the home of her niece, in West Alexander.
She was born July 31, 1933, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Wieczorek Szalanski. She lived her life in Canonsburg and was a lifetime member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church.
Dot was a graduate of Cecil High School and had attended Penn Commercial Business School. Prior to her retirement, she had been a clerical worker in the Drafting Department at the former McGraw Edison and Cooper Industries for many years. Dot had been a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild of St. Patrick’s, the SNPJ Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Polish Club.
On September 12, 1953, she married Edward Lee Wainer, who passed away June 6, 1991.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her sister, Patty Falcione and her husband, Ron of Venetia; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband and parents; is her sister, Gloria J. Scears; and her brother, John Szalanski.
Friends and family are welcome from 3 until 7 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2022, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon in St. Oscar Romero St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
