Alfred Quintin Heirendt

Alfred Quintin Heirendt, 87 years old, of Cecil, died Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in his home.

He was born July 7, 1935, in Cecil, son of Nicholas and Johanna Heirendt.

Fred served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. After retiring, he went on to own and operate his own residential wiring business.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Cecil. Fred was a former member of the Cecil American Legion and the Muse Italian Club. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, working, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. He was a founding member of Camp Blyson, a family hunting camp and one of his favorite places on earth.

Surviving are wife Mary Jo Heirendt; daughter Nita (Bill) Morrison, of Pittsburgh; sons, Mark (Kim) Heirendt of Ellsworth, Pete (Kathy) Heirendt of Portland, Matt (Holly) Heirendt of Cecil; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth (Barb) Heirendt, of Cecil.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 siblings and a great- granddaughter, Holly Strogish.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 9 at Corpus Christi Parish, St. Mary Church, 10 St. Mary Lane, Cecil, followed by entombment at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with full military honors accorded by Canonsburg VFW 191.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Concordia Hospice for their extraordinary support and kindness.
