Charles Edward Henry

Charles “Chuck” Edward Henry, 90, of Washington, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in Eaton Rapids Medical Center, Eaton Rapids, Michigan, of natural causes.

Chuck was born February 13, 1932, in Milford, Massachusetts, the son of Norman Sargeant and Marjorie Ellison Ouderkirk Henry.

He enjoyed a 45-year career with US Airways as a system-wide Operations Manager and training consultant. At the same time, he was the proprietor of Placid Ceramics (1973-2009) in Washington, Pennsylvania and Henry’s Homestead Skating Lodge (1970-1974) in Lake Placid, New York. He was also a Freemason.

After retirement, he had time to enjoy interests outside aviation, including antiquing and volunteering at the Trolley Museum in Washington. Many years ago, he served as a volunteer firefighter and a figure skating judge.

Chuck had been married for nearly 57 years to Florence “Patty” Richardson Henry, who passed in 2009. Since 2015, he was the happy partner of Jean Franklin Beitzel of Onondaga, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Richard S. (Ann) Henry, Phyllis Chamberlain and Muriel Tinkham.

In addition to many nieces and nephews, surviving to cherish his memory are his children: Judith E. Shiprack, Deborah J. LaBombard, Edward M. (Lori) Henry, Bradley M. (Lauren) Henry and Margaret A. (Randy) Cox; grandchildren: Travis (Becky) Shiprack, Christopher Shiprack, Tim (Amy) Hallett, Bryan (Zoe Agoos) Hallett, Erin (Andy) Frisbe, Jerrod LaBombard, Megan (Tim) Fritsch, Krista (Brendan) Gallagher, Tanner Henry, Abbie (James) Seabright, Mackenzie Woodward, Michayla Woodward, Andrew Cox, Aidan Cox, Allen Cox and Addison Cox; great-grandchildren, Kendra Paynter, Amelia Shiprack, Natalie, Benjamin and Lillian Hallett, Myles Hallett, Katelin, Connor and Caroline Frisbie, Hutchinson LaBombard, Eloise Fritsch and Penelope Gallagher; and the many children and grandchildren of his partner Jean, including: Terria Aleo, Bud (Linda) Walters, Linda Carey, Jenny Franklin, Derek (Aleasha) Klinger and Crystal Klinger; and was preceded in death by Diania Klinger.

A memorial service for Chuck will be held in Washington at a later date, and interment will be at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery, Aliquippa.
