David “Super Dave” L. Williams Sr. “Poopdeck Pap”, 93, of Claysville, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, with his family by his side.

Born October 30, 1928 in Turtle Creek, a son to the late Leland Leslie and Adina Pope (Austin) Williams.

David was a resident of Claysville all his life. He graduated from Claysville High School in 1947.

David served in the U.S. Navy for four years as Electricians Mate Fireman. He worked as a Journeyman Pipefitter for Local 798 Pipeliners for 37 years until retiring in 1991. David was a member of the Claysville American Legion Post #639.

He had a passion for shooting pool since he was 12 and worked as a pool table mechanic in his later years. David was a great pitcher when he was younger and enjoyed playing baseball and softball. He enjoyed “one armed bandits”, putting puzzles together, antiquing, spending time with his family and sitting on the front porch.

David is survived by his children: Ruth Anne Williams, of Cecil, David L. (Jackie) Williams, of Claysville, Richard Nelson (Vanessa) Williams, of Washington, Barbara (Jay) Mitchell, of Claysville, Donald Williams, of Nineveh and Daniel Williams, of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by Mary Jane “Hurricane” Rankin Williams; grandson, Shawn Michael Williams; brothers, Fred, Dick and Bill Williams; sisters, Jean Carman and Ruth Hagan. David was the last surviving member of his family.

Services have been entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359; 724-499-5181.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022, at Claysville United Presbyterian Church, 134 Wayne Street, Claysville, PA 15323. A second viewing will be held the next day starting at 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ellen Lady officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Claysville Cemetery, where military rights will be conducted by the Claysville American Legion Post #639 and the United States Navy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made out to the Estate of David L. Williams Sr., and sent to PO Box 585, Claysville, PA 15323.
