Dorothy Smith Walker
Dorothy Smith Walker, 104, of Hickory, died Thursday, September 8, 2022, in her daughter’s home in Hickory.
She was born March 20, 1918, in Muse, the eldest of nine children born to Vance McClelland and Jane Morgan Smith.
Mrs. Walker was a 1936 graduate of Hickory High School.
Dorothy loved her family, baking and researching family history. Up until five years ago, she was actively involved in the Mt. Pleasant Township Historical Association Library.
On May 30, 1942, she married Wilbert H. Walker, who passed away April 8, 2009.
Surviving are three daughters, Joyce Ewing (Donald) of Bethel Park, Linda W. Smith of Mt. Lebanon and Janet Okarma (Jack) of Hickory; a son, Dennis Walker (Diana) of Hickory; five granddaughters; a stepgrandson; seven great-grandchildren; along with four stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Smith of Hickory; a sister, Roberta Farrar (Larry) of Columbia, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Arthur, Vance and Paul Smith; and two sisters, Olive Ferrell and Elsie Smith.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 14. Interment will follow at Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
