Vera G. Porter, 93, of Washington, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
She was born November 24, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of the late Paul W. and Virginia Ward Gray.
Vera was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School, and went on to work for Hazel Atlas #2; W.T. Grant Company in Washington for 25 years and she spent 23 years working for Lee Gashel & Sons, Claysville.
On May 11, 1950, she married Delbert Porter, who died September 22, 1983.
Surviving is a son, Jeffrey S. Porter of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter, Shari L. Newman of Washington; a sister, Margaret (James) Blackhurst of Elk Grove, Calif.; five grandchildren, Gina and Ethan Newman and Dale, Wyatt and Trace Porter; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Kellan Ardeno; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Patricia Moffat; and a brother, Paul Gray.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. There will be no visitation. A private interment in Enon Baptist Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
