Virginia Milliken
Virginia Milliken, 84, of West Alexander, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in her home, with her family by her side.
She was born July 31, 1938, a daughter of the late George and Edna Sprowls Scherich.
Virginia was born and raised in Washington County. She graduated from West Alexander High School with the Class of 1956.
She was a member of the West Alexander United Methodist Church and the West Alexander American Legion Auxiliary Unit 656.
Virginia married Thomas Milliken December 27, 1955, and they were happily married for 44 years until his passing October 4, 2000.
She, alongside her husband, owned one of the baseball fields where the West Alexander Baseball/Softball Teams played. They both enjoyed being an active participant with the organization for many, many years.
She loved church, reading, crossword puzzles, sewing and family. She would make 116 pies for the West Alexander Fair, where she was famous for her peanut butter pie. Virginia also loved helping others by taking them to appointments and going out to eat; pizza was her favorite.
She is survived by her children, Pat (Donna) Milliken of Wheeling, W.Va., Dianna (Bobby) McCord of Triadelphia, W.Va., Sam (Marsha) Milliken of Waynesburg, and Bob Milliken of Triadelphia; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Sokol, Natalie (Ryan) Martin, Brett McCord, Tyler Milliken, Zachary Milliken, Samantha (Sasha) Milliken and Savannah Milliken; along with eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha McAdoo.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Wayne Scherich, Mary Reed, Ruth Horvat, Clyde Scherich and Joe Scherich.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 23, in West Alexander United Methodist Church, 58 N. Liberty Road, West Alexander, PA 15376. A second visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of a funeral service, Saturday, September 24, in the church, with Pastor Jacob Judy officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Dallas, W.Va.
