Richard Bierer
Richard “Dick” Bierer, 84, of Greensboro, Pa., passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 in the Waynesburg Heath and Rehab Center, following an illness of several months.
Born in Bobtown, on Nov. 22, 1937, a son of the late Clarence “Ham” and Helen Kolenkovich Bierer.
A U.S Army veteran, Dick was a coal miner, retiring from Duquesne Light, and a member of the UMWA. He was also a member of the Mount Morris Sportsmen’s Club, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and, in later years, helped out at the Hungarian Smoke House in Carmichaels.
Surviving are his three children, Jennifer Cecere and husband Jon, of Pittsburgh, Bill Ross and wife Jackie of Waynesburg, Brian Ross of Beallsville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Billy Ross and wife Angela, Nick Ross, Remington Ross, Garrett Cecere and Logan Cecere; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Ciancuillo and Alayna Ross; a brother, David Bierer and wife Oma of Bobtown; a sister, Paulette Emslie of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Barbara Lee Polosky Bierer passed away on Feb. 20, 2020. Also deceased is a granddaughter, Carie Lynn Ross, a sister, Marcella Mills, and a brother, Gene Bierer.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to join his family for Graveside Services on Wednesday, Sept. 28th at 2:30 PM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, Pa. (Please arrive at the cemetery 15 minutes prior to the service.) Military honors will be accorded at the graveside. Arrangements are in the care of the Richard R.
