Pauline Rakosky
Pauline Rakosky, 92, of Bentleyville, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.
She was born April 13, 1930, in Millsboro, a daughter of the late Clarence A. and Kathryn Famularo Haney.
She was a 1948 graduate of Bentleyville High School.
Pauline was formerly employed for 17 years as a court crier in the Washington County Court House, from where she retired in 1993.
Mrs. Rakosky was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA), a former member of the Bentleyville Borough Council, Bentleyville Recreation Board, Bentleyville Democratic Women’s Club, and former treasurer of the Washington County Food Bank.
Pauline enjoyed flower gardening, landscaping, sewing, crocheting, volunteering with several organizations in the community, and cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On June 26, 1948, she married Carl Rakosky, who died May 18, 2017. They had been married 68 years at the time of his death.
Surviving are four children, Doug Rakosky (Joanne Rabenold) of The Villages, Fla., Greg Rakosky (Joan) of Charleroi, Kathy Rakosky of Bentleyville, and Rene Dunfee (Gary) of Bentleyville; daughter-in-law, Pamela Rakosky of Venetia; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Higareda (Millie) of Homer City; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted caregiver, Lisa Barney.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son, Paul M. Rakosky; and a twin brother, Paul A. Haney.
Friends were received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 26, in the Greenlee’s Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Finleyville, with Fr. Pierre Falkenhan officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Bentleyville Volunteer Fire Department, 900 Main Street #100, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
