Carla Lorraine Smith, 75, of Washington, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 8, 2023, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.

She was born July 3, 1947, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late William and Bessie Price Jones.

Carla was a 1966 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Washington.

Mrs. Smith retired in February of 2012 from Taylor Wharton, formerly Superior Valve Corp., in Washington and was owner/operator of Jewelry Design by Carla.

She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, cooking, making jewelry, watching her soap operas, traveling and spending time with her family in Daytona Beach, Fla.

On December 6, 1981, she married Heudawn “Jack” Smith, who died in August 23, 2002.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline Smith-James of Kennesaw, Ga. and Nicole Smith of Marietta, Ga.; a grandson, Joshua “Bobby” Beckles; a brother, Leon Jones of Houston; a sister, Sheryl Jones of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a granddaughter, Ella Dawn Smith-James; two sisters, Wilma Foreman and Jaylinn Jones; and a brother, William “Deacon” Jones.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, April 14, 2023, with Reverend Cynthia L. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contribution to Gateway Hospice, 9380 McKnight Road, Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
