Charles K. Teagarden
Charles K. Teagarden, 91, of Daisytown, formerly of Deemston, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Westmoreland Hospital.
He was born August 29, 1931, in Deemston Borough, a son of the late Guy W. and Lena M. Martin Teagarden.
Mr. Teagarden was a 1950 graduate of Centerville High School.
Charles was a proud Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1950 to 1953.
He was previously employed at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and was then employed from 1972 to 1991 as a truck operator with PennDOT from where he retired.
Mr. Teagarden was a member of Clarksville Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #940 West Brownsville and AFSCME.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, reading, antiques, and family vacations to the Outer Banks, N.C., and St Augustine, Fla. As an avid fisherman and country music lover he made many trips to Canada and the Grand Ole Opry.
On November 24, 1954, he married Polly A. Phillips Teagarden, who died October 12, 1989.
Surviving are four children, Bonnie Lee Parkinson (William) of Hammond, La., Charles Teagarden (Diane Kerns) of Ellsworth, Kathleen Shutsy (Jerry) of Greensburg, and Randall Teagarden of St. Augustine; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Daniel, Casey, Amanda, Brandy, Christopher, Ashley; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Skokut of Amity; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a grandson, Brandon Teagarden; three siblings, Mary Phillips, John Teagarden and Betty Shipe.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 18, at the Smith Cemetery on Prison Road, Waynesburg, with Pastor Kevin Giddings officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the Greene County Honor Guard.
