Raymond D. Barney

Raymond D. Barney, 88, of Charleroi, formerly of Eighty-Four, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 20, 2023, in Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Healthy Care Center, Greensburg.

He was born July 6, 1935, in Washington, a son of the late J. Orville and Annetta “Nettie” H. Morrison Barney.

Ray had been a heavy equipment operator in the mining industry and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On July 9, 1966, he married Rose Marie Moze Paul, who passed away July 27, 2010, after 44 years of marriage.

He is survived by his stepson, Albert Paul of Canonsburg; and three stepdaughters, Earline (George) Uram of Canonsburg, Sandi (Bill) Benard of Houston, and Darlene (Jerry) Dean of Canonsburg; a brother, Kenneth Barney of Eighty-Four; a sister, Janet Collar of Utica; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are two brothers, Donard and Albert Orville Barney; and a sister, Wanda Smith.

Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, August 25, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120.

Interment in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, will be private.
